Highlight of past Events

Autumn Wreath Making

On Friday, 19th September 2025, a group of enthusiastic individuals gathered to create autumn wreaths in a fun and seasonal workshop. All materials were provided, including a variety of natural decorations like dried leaves, berries, pinecones, and ribbons. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, encouraging creativity and connection among the participants.

A professional florist was on hand to offer guidance throughout the session, sharing expert tips on arranging and securing materials. Thanks to the support and inspiration provided, everyone – from beginners to seasoned crafters – left with a beautiful, handmade wreath and a sense of accomplishment.

Big Comedy Club Night

On Friday 11th July 2025 the follow up comedy night to the previous comedy night on the 16th may 2025, was a roaring success. The line up included the Live at The Apollo and Mock The Week star Gary Delaney along with multi award winning support From Duncan Oakley & Michael Akadiri. The trustees organised refreshments and a licenced bar, which helped raise more funds for village hall improvements.

Big Comedy Club Night

The comedy night held on Friday 16th May was a roaring, sell out success. Fun was had by all. A big shout out and thank you to everyone who volunteered to help on the night – you all helped to add to the great success of the event! The organisers were mightily impressed with our facilities and turnout and we have agreed to host another fundraising comedy night.

Open Gardens and Tea Party

Our Open Gardens and Tea Party in Risby took place on Saturday, 10th June 2023, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Risby Village Hall. Around £1,000 was raised for the restoration of the hall’s kitchen and toilets. Fifteen beautiful gardens and green spaces were opened to the public, showcasing a wide variety of styles—from cottage and courtyard gardens to wildflower areas and Asian-inspired designs.

The day concluded with a well-attended Tea Party at the Village Hall, where visitors enjoyed cream teas with homemade scones and plenty of tea. A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who helped make the event possible, and to all who have supported the Village Hall over the past century. We were especially honoured to welcome descendants of the man who built the hall in 1923—a fitting tribute as we look forward to preserving this special place for generations to come.
