About us

Risby Village Hall is owned by the people of Risby, and administered on their behalf by Risby Village Hall Charity Trust, which is a registered charity, charity number 1186173

The hall was originally built in 1923 by Sir John Wood, and bequeathed to the people of the village in 1952. It has since been run on behalf of the village by a group of trustees.

The hall itself consists of one smaller and one larger hall and the gift horse room which is ideal for meetings. All the halls are available to hire separately or together as a package. There are two kitchens, one in the gift horse room and a much larger fully equipped kitchen with cooking and dining facilities, and a glass washer.

The large hall

The Large Hall was recently refurbished, with attractive cladding on the outside, and full insulated with new lighting and modern heating system. The large hall can seat 250 people up to 350 people dancing making it a perfect venue for private, social and family events.

  • Large Hall is from £25 per hour to hire and there are concessions for Risby Clubs.
  • There is a flat rate for weddings of £350.  This includes hire of both the Large and Small Hall from 6pm Friday to 12 noon on Sunday.  It includes use of the kitchen and all equipment, plus chairs and tables.  We ask for a £50 non-refundable deposit upon booking.
  • A discount is offered to Risby Residents.

The small hall

The small hall is part of the original building that was originally built in 1923 and is now part of the building that is a 100 years old. The hall also benefits from updated curtains and double glazed windows and is perfect for gatherings up to 30 poeple.

  • From the Small Hall via the french doors, there is a fenced garden area with a Pétanque court. This is an ideal area in the summer.

The gift horse room

The Gift Horse room is an ideal venue for small meetings for groups and businesses.  It includes its own small domestic kitchen for your convenience. The hire price for this room starts from £6 per hour.

 

 or the From The Multi-use games area

The multi-use games area is available for hire for the following sports & activities: tennis, netball, basketball and five-a-side football. If you wish to set-up a regular club for any of these sports, then the Village Hall are happy to discuss the long-term hiring of the court on an annual basis. There is a small fee for the hire of the court, which is payable on booking. Payment can be made by BACS online.

  • From £5 per hour for residents
  • £10 per hour for commercial use

Adult Gym Equipment

The free-to-use outdoor adult gym equipment was installed at the beginning of 2022.  Anyone over 1.4m tall can use the equipment (weight restrictions apply). 

We are grateful to local residents who supported this project and to local businesses and organisations who also provided funding, including EcoCooling, Claas, Cross Country Carriers, Risby Barns, Lakeview Avenue Stores and our Parish Council.

Recreation Ground Equipment

The Recreation Ground facilities provide opportunities for adults and children to exercise, including adult gym equipment, children’s play equipment, a floodlit, multi-use games area (MUGA), a cricket pitch, a football pitch and the pétanque pitch.

 

Payment terms

We require a refundable deposit when picking up the hall keys, to cover damages and excessive cleaning.  This varies from £50 to £100 depending on the event being held.

Payment Information:

A £50 cheque deposit is required for collection of the key for most circumstances unless otherwise stated by the Hall Manager. An invoice will be sent to you prior to the booking and payment can either be made by, preferably by BACS in advance, or by cheque or cash on the day of the hire.
