All materials were provided, including a variety of natural decorations like dried leaves, berries, pinecones, and ribbons. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, encouraging creativity and connection among the participants.

Open Gardens and Tea Party

10th June: Open Gardens and Tea Party

Our Open Gardens and Tea Party event in Risby was held on Saturday, 10th June. The event was held to celebrate the centennial year of Risby Village Hall, which was gifted to the village people along with the recreational field 100 years ago. Approximately £1,000 was raised towards the Village Hall fund for restoration of the toilets and kitchen.

There were 15 gardens and green spaces open to the public, each with its own unique character. The gardens included cottage gardens, a courtyard garden, wildflower areas, an asia inspired garden and much more. There were also beautiful ponds, very old trees and gorgeous roses to enjoy. Our thanks goes to all the people involved: the host gardeners, the volunteers in the Village Hall kitchen, the cake makers, the Village Hall decorators, the sign putter uppers and anyone else who gave their time to put on this event.  The Open Gardens ran from 10am to 4pm, followed by a Tea Party at the Village Hall from 4pm to 6pm, where people enjoyed a delicious cream tea with freshly made scones, cream, butter, jam and endless tea!  We hope everyone who visited us on the 10th June enjoyed this community event.

Finally, our thanks goes to all the people who have contributed to the running of the Village Hall over the past 100 years, on the 10th June, we were delighted to be visited by descendants of a man who built the hall in 1923 and it was lovely to hear his story.  As trustees of the Village Hall, we hope that we can continue to look after this fabulous facility for our descendants to enjoy in another centenary!

100 year Centenary Quiz
