About Risby Village Hall
Risby Village Hall stands centrally within our village. Our facility is a vital part of our community and helps to foster connections and provide social space for our residents. Established with the purpose of to provide as a versatile space for gatherings, celebrations, and events, our hall has become a fabulous venue for all to share and enjoy. From hosting local clubs and societies to providing a venue for weddings, parties, meetings and other private functions, Risby Village Hall trustees are committed to supporting the diverse needs of our community. Our mission is to continue being a welcoming space that brings people together, nurturing a sense of belonging and community spirit.

'1920s
Foundation of the Hall
In 1923 Construction of the village hall, commissioned by Sir John Wood.
'1950s
Bequeathed
1952: Sir John Wood gives the village hall to the community as a permanent gift.
'1970s
Hall Expansion
A larger hall was added to the original 1923 structure, with villagers providing loans to fund its construction.
'2021
Large Hall refit
In 2021 the main hall received a major internal and external upgrade, which was funded by a lottery grant. This included improvements to the building's insulation and heating.
'2021/2022
Outdoor Expansion
In 2021 the multi use games area (MUGA) was built with floodlighting for winter use. In 2022 the outdoor adult gym equipment was installed adjacent to the MUDA. Also in 2022, Solar panels were installed on the roof of the main building.
'2023
Centenary 100 years
2023: In June, the hall celebrated its centenary with an Open Gardens and Tea Party event. The celebration also raised funds for kitchen and toilet restorations.
'2025/2026
Current Improvements
Recent refurbishments have included "hotel standard" Ladies, Gents and Accessible toilets. The inner entrance to the hall has been refurbished with new panelling and herringbone effect flooring. Our Meeting Room is currently undergoing refurbishment and our Small Hall is destined to follow with new flooring, window shutters and air conditioning. Exciting times! Come and see.
